This radio play is based on the true story of the failed attempt by the Provisional IRA to blow up the Queen Elizabeth II liner at the opening of the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal in Shetland in May 1981. It is based in several years' extensive research into the episode, including into documents relating to the investigation which were suppressed at the time, but have recently been released under the Freedom of Information Act.
