Additional information

This article establishes a comparative and historical context for the Korea memorial by summarising The Vietnam War in American Memory’s description of the Vietnam memorial design controversy, to which the Korea memorial responded. Less than 1400 words of this 16,000-word article involve any overlap. On pp. 217–221, two paragraphs (612 words) describe the design controversy; two paragraphs (444 words) describe jury composition in Vietnam memorials; a section (186 words) deals with the addition of statues to the Vietnam Memorial. Other comparisons occur in passing. The discussion of the principal topic, the Korea memorial, is based on entirely new research.
