Additional information

This EPSRC funded work (EP/C532554, £250k) demonstrates for the first time that non-oxidative continuous methane transformation over platinum catalysts is possible at moderate temperatures (370°C). Thus, it opens a new direction for kinetic studies of methane activation and transformation over transition metals that are likely to lead to novel results relevant to a number of industrially important reactions (e.g. high temperature Fischer-Tropsch). This paper was published as the ‘Editors Choice’ paper - one per issue.
