<02>Originality: This paper studies the relations between workflow systems and gateway building technologies. Both are important in supporting scientists to create large scientific simulations. This paper shows that the two concepts that were handled separately in the literature can be combined to establish powerful workflow-oriented science gateway framework.
Significance: The paper addresses an important aspect of building science gateways based on the workflow concept.
Rigour: Analyses of the literature support all major findings of this research. Results published in a leading, peer-reviewed journal.
