Additional information

The work reported in this paper was a one of the results of an EPSRC DTA studentship (John Hattersley). The work continued and led to the novel haemodialysis procedure reported, and is incorporated in the EuLite Clinical trials (clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00700531) taking place across Europe. The work has been widened to other applications (e.g. rhabdomyolosis paper at 8th IFAC BMS Symposium, Budapest, August 2012) and led to further interest and novel filter sales worldwide (contact: Markus.Storr@gambro.com). It also garnered further funding from Gambro (£20k) and Binding Site (£10k, contact Stephen.Harding@bindingsite.co.uk) and a preliminary patent application, title: FLC Correction Factor (Priority/Filing date: 21/02/12).
