Additional information

This is the first report of the quartz crystal microbalance being used to measure the density-viscosity product using small volumes of ionic liquid. This is the result of an EPSRC funded project (EP/D03826X/1) with Sheffield University (EP/D038995/1) and Queen's University Belfast (EP/D038294/1) to develop high-throughput, lab-on-a-chip techniques. A follow on lab-on-a-chip demonstration of this QCM techniques is reported in Biomicrofluidics 4 (2010) 014107.
