Focal construct geometry – a novel approach to the acquisition of diffraction data
Our pioneering technique provides orders of magnitude increase in material X-ray scattering signatures and establishes the basis for new high-speed scanning applications. This work provided proof of principle for a major research contract; Innovative Research Call (2008) sponsored under the UK’s CONTEST strategy; and linked EPSRC (EP/F017596/1) & (EP/F0178041). It also underpins our proposal to the US DHS S&T Directorate’s BAA 13-05: Advanced X-ray Material Discrimination (selected for funding). This work is commercially exploited through Lachesis VC funding and Regional Innovation Fellowship awards, which support a joint Nottingham and Cranfield spin-off company; HALO X-ray Technologies Ltd.
