Copernico e la gravità: La dottrina della gravità e del moto circolare degli elementi nel De revolutionibus
Parts of this book have appeared, in an earlier form and in English, in a) an article published in the Journal of the Warburg and Courtauld Institutes, vol. 68 (2007), pp. 157-211, which was submitted to the RAE 2008 as one of Knox's outputs; and b) the chapter 'Copernicus and Pliny's Stoic Cosmology', in Renaissance Letters and Learning, which is submitted as one of Knox's outputs for the REF 2014. This book output is a translation of these texts, with revisions and updating throughout, plus substantial additions that did not feature in the two English titles. Chapter 2 (23 pages) is almost entirely new; Chapter 6 has some new passages. The introduction and index are also new.
