Double-weighted statement

This Oxford University Press monograph is the result of seven years of research and writing that developed an extensive and complex thesis related to Joseph Conrad and the formative literary and philosophical influences on his work. The book, which explores a wide range of previously unexamined aspects of European historical thought in Conrad’s writings, relied on the analysis of extensive materials across a range of diverse literary and linguistic traditions. The monograph is the first of its kind to turn its attention to important areas of Polish and French Romantic thought and their major role in shaping Conrad’s fiction.
