Experimental measurement of focused wave group and solitary wave overtopping
These experiments broke the mould of conventional approaches to wave overtopping which traditionally measure mean overtopping rates from long duration irregular wave trains. Here we presented a comprehensive campaign of individual wave overtopping due to wave groups of different steepness and phase. Paper review 2 commented: “The effect of individual waves on wave overtopping is of high relevance for a better understanding of the processes and especially the generation of individual overtopping volumes…the paper is regarded to be novel and important”. Results have been presented so that they can readily be used for numerical validations (EPSRC: GR/N22595/01 and GR/N21741/01).
