Additional information

<29> Alternate Reality Games (ARGs) are a recognised massively multiplayer game genre used for marketing purposes. This paper’s significance lies in the innovative application of ARGs to education and was the earliest paper that experimented with this approach in Europe. The paper evaluates ARGs both from the student perspective but also the teacher perspective. The paper helped inform European educators on the possible use of this technology and, with its application in motivating language learning, had both societal and policy implications. Its significance can be seen in the uptake in citations.
