Additional information

Linking chemically-responsive reflection holograms to enzyme catalysed reactions configured in a multi-layer construction has since been used to extend the range of selectivity of holograms to other analytes. One of our main objectives currently is to fabricate a holographic pregnancy test based on the principle of enzyme-linked immunoassay in a project funded by Swiss Precision Diagnostics (contact Dr Stewart Wilson) and involving enzymes which generate apolar products from polar substrates using our newly developed and patented laser ablation technology for fabricating holograms in apolar materials such as poly-dimethylsiloxane (PDMS) (Martinez-Hurtado et al. (2010) Langmuir, 26, 15694-15699).
