Additional information

This paper is concerned with fundamental aspects of turbulent separated and reattaching flow. Such flows are very common in engineering practice, and very nearly always three-dimensional, but are one of the most complex types of flow because the turbulence intensities are very high and the flow recirculates upon itself. Because of the complexity, by far, most studies have been on a reduced class of two-dimensional flow. A special and novel feature of this work is that it provides a systematic methodology and link between widely-studied two-dimensional flow and a fully three-dimensional flow.
