Additional information

This paper presents a novel and efficient means of analysing the gust response of a flexible aerofoil. It is a key component of the multi-fidelity approach developed by the authors for the aeroelastic optimisation of wings and aerofoils (presented at AIAA, ASMO-UK and ISSMO conferences). It was also extended and applied by Berci while employed as a research contractor for Airbus DE after completing his PhD, to provide a comparison with high fidelity FSI results (Computers and Structures 122 (2013) 202–216). This work is also an important aspect of the EU Initial Training Network AMEDEO (Ref: 316394, Euro3.6M).
