Additional information

The performance of a novel cooling scheme (Louver Scheme) for gas turbine engines was analysed using unsteady simulation, Detached-Eddy-Simulation (DES). More realistic prediction of the jet lateral spreading than that of the steady analysis has been obtained. This work is the result of collaboration with Pratt & Whitney Canada for the development of advanced cooling schemes. The outputs of this paper provide substantial benefits to the industry in terms of the validation and evaluation of new cooling schemes (Dr Sri Sreekanth, Hot Section Durability, Pratt & Whitney Canada).
