Additional information

Multi-bit Delta-Sigma (Δ-Σ) based analog-to-digital (ADC) and digital-to-analog converters (DAC) are preferred over one-bit because of higher dynamic ranges and stability. However it is complicated to analyse the stability due to the complex modeling required for the non-linear multi-bit quantizer. The paper models the multi-bit quantizer and proposes a novel algorithm that can be integrated with various design and evaluation tools, to more accurately and rapidly predict stability in multi-bit delta--sigma (Δ--Σ) modulators circumventing the need to build a prototype. The algorithm is applied to a prototype wideband CDMA-ADC to demonstrate the accuracy in results for the algorithm.
