Additional information

The paper details the research outputs resulting from the European Telecommunication Standardization Institute (ETSI) Reconfigurable Radio Systems (RRS) Technical Committee (TC) work that aims to quantify the current status of standardization in respect of Software Defined Radio (SDR)/Cognitive Radio (CR) with a view to identify areas of standardization, subsequently leading to standards. The author was a working group member along with other members from Nokia, Joint Research Center of the EU, Alcatel-Lucent Duetschland, NATO C3 and EURECOM. Various SDR/CR architectures were proposed as a basis for future SDR/CR standards for the networks, base stations, mobile stations and handsets.
