Methods for designing characterisation targets for digital cameras
Characterisation charts are important to enable digital cameras to capture accurate colours. A common practical consideration is the choice of the colours in the characterisation chart to give best colour fidelity. A robust polynomial model method for developing a target from a particular dataset for characterising digital cameras was proposed. This method outperformed existing methods by a large margin in terms of higher colour accuracy or reduced number of samples. This method can enable digital cameras to be used as tristimulus colorimeters for accurate colour measurement and enables their use in, for example, product inspection and medical applications.
