This paper was the first to study selective laser sintering of aluminium silicon alloys, and presents new insights on the combined effect of laser energy input, alloy formulation, and powder blend design in direct laser sintering of blended metal powders, by providing a detailed quantitative analysis of the relative importance of these factors to improve upon previous qualitative analyses.
