Additional information

In this study we report the uncharted diversity of periodic phases by self-assembly. The work has been highlighted by UK and EU large-scale facility newsletters (Diamond and ESRF). The work, as reported by Nanowerk news (http://www.nanowerk.com/news/newsid=20952.php),“…will push the limits of what is possible in `bottom-up´ methods of nanopatterning” and “… of producing `bottom-up´ ultra-small electronic and photonic integrated circuits.” The research also vividly illustrates how diverse systems as hard magnets and liquid crystals are governed by the same universal physical principles.
