Additional information

The first systematic dislocation dynamics study of dislocation sources in anisotropic alpha-Fe. At high anisotropy certain orientations of source are activated at tiny applied stresses compared to isotropic materials, consistent with experimental results and our previous idealized models. We unequivocally rule out the use of isotropic elasticity for modelling ferritic materials, for fusion or any other high temperature application, and provide a powerful simulation package based on anisotropic elasticity for the dislocation modelling community to use (http://defects.materials.ox.ac.uk/resources.html).
