Application of Grid computing for designing a class of optimal periodic nonuniform sampling sequences
<02> Originality: A novel parallel algorithm for periodic non-uniform sampling executes parts of the calculation simultaneously on different nodes of a computational grid, reducing overall runtime.
Significance: The approach overcomes the major computational limitations that arise in non-uniform sampling sequence designs whose purpose is to overcome aliasing: sequential computer-based solutions can easily run for days or even weeks.
Rigour: Two different implementations are evaluated. The first utilizes a service grid environment based on P-Grade/GEMLCA technology; the second is a BOINC desktop grid-based solution. Both demonstrated considerable performance enhancement.
