Additional information

Elsner conceived the mini conference out of which this edited volume emerged, as a new venture in Pausanias studies, addressing his considerable Nachleben. This has hardly been researched and certainly not for any era before the later nineteenth century. It was particularly hard to persuade anyone to work on Frazer, since his corpus is so vast. Elsner then edited the volume, commenting extensively on all papers, before the Journal's external reviewers added their comments. He wrote an introduction and one chapter.
