Additional information

<10> This research emerged from an EPSRC project entitled, “System Dynamics from Individual Interactions: A process algebra approach to epidemiology” (£343K, EP/E006280/1, Principal Investigator Shankland). Output in a broader biosciences journal fulfilled our mission to make the techniques developed in our EPSRC project known to a wider audience. The methods developed in this paper played a key role in underpinning a new £1.2M EPSRC project (EP/K039342/1, Principal Investigator Shankland) entitled “Improving patient outcome by integrating the generic with the personal”. This project started in April 2013 and is exploring the modelling of cancer therapies.
