<22> This describes an innovative new method for rectangular stock cutting. It has direct relevance to industrial application across a variety of areas including steel and polycarbonate cutting. The approach draws upon innovation which lies at the interface of Operational Research and Computer Science and this reflects its publication in the flagship international journal for research at this interface. The methodology produced outstanding results when compared against other methods in the literature and this is particularly notable given how well studied this problem is. The method has had a clear impact on the field, as evidenced by its high citation count.
