Additional information

<28> This combines several key mathematical and computational techniques in a decision support system for the complex problem of designing cancer chemotherapy schedules. It represents a mature example of multi-disciplinary research and international collaboration in which mathematical modelling of tumour growth is combined with state-of-the-art population-based algorithms to successfully produce effective treatments. The novelty of this approach is the incorporation of the immune system and the effect of two complementary types of drugs used in chemotherapy current practice. This methodology paves the way for the development of tools to assist practitioners in the design of personalised and effective cancer treatments.
