Additional information

Torremans devised this project, drafted its terms of reference, recruited participants, obtained European FP6 funding for the project and chaired its implementation phase (with Aurora Plomer, University of Sheffield). Various preparatory and editorial meetings were held in Europe and in Canada, culminating in this publication. In addition to writing the Introduction (pp. xxxvii – xlv, 50% authorial contribution) and Chapters 6 (pp. 141-171: 100% authorial contribution) and 10 (pp. 271 - 302: 100% authorial contribution), Torremans also undertook extensive editing (in collaboration with Plomer) of the entire work, as well as of the related report that was delivered to the European Commission.
