Numerical study and comparison with experiment of dispersion of a heavier-than-air gas in a simulated neutral atmospheric boundary layer
This paper presents a comparison study of numerical prediction and experimental data for the dispersion of a plume of heavier-than-air gas in an atmospheric boundary layer. The paper uses a published wind tunnel experimental data to set up a numerical model for further investigation. The importance of the paper is in the assessment of the degree to which the experimental conditions and plume parameters can be reproduced theoretically. A method based on the use of an existing empirical correlation was suggested to facilitate the choice of the turbulent Schmidt number.
