Additional information

Multi-jet electrospray is the least studied electrospray (ES) mode. It has the potential to simply increase total flow rate by a multiplex factor “n”, where “n” is the number of jets. This paper identifies for the first time that the properties of each jet are identical. More importantly and unexpectedly this paper also revealed that as n increases the charge efficiency increases. This has particular application in ES as an ionization method for mass spectrometry (ES-MS). Multi-jet can be used as a stable process to improve the analyte transfer efficiency: particularly important in cases of high cost biomolecule investigations.
