Performance analysis of DSRC priority mechanism for road safety applications in vehicular networks
This paper is the first comprehensive analysis of the radio technology for short range communications between vehicles which will be essential for road safety applications. Through an original performance model, it demonstrated that medium access control layer can become dangerously congested, with important real life implications that road safety applications can become seriously unreliable unless traffic is properly controlled. The work was the outcome of collaboration with national institutions (e.g. University of Bedfordshire) as part of large industrial-academic consortium MobileVCE (Virtual Centre of Excellence in Mobile and Personal Communications).
