Delamination modelling of GLARE using the extended finite element method
This paper presents the outcomes of research conducted on computational fracture of composites using novel numerical techniques. This was the first time that the Extended Finite Element Method has been applied for replication of cracks on GLARE, which has led to seminar invitations at Imperial College (v.tagiarelly@imperial.ac.uk) and Swansea University (a.j.gil@swansea.ac.uk). This has generated further collaboration with some researchers (pedro-baiz@imperial.ac.uk). Additionally, this research has led to international collaboration with LaCaN, Barcelona (jose.munoz@upc.edu) and University of Parma (brigh@unipr.it). It has also contributed to chairing a mini-symposium at the leading European Conference in Computational Methods: ECCOMAS Vienna, 2012 (http://eccomas2012.conf.tuwien.ac.at/).
