Additional information

This work was the first in the field to apply an evolutionary classification scheme at the supply chain level. By going beyond the individual firm, a better understanding of individual performances of the firms within the chain can be achieved. The benefits include a benchmark of best practice, a strategic tool for policy development, and scenario generation. This informed the proposal of the AMRC-led COPERNICO project, a €7.6m, European (FP7) funded collaboration between fifteen universities and industrial partners, including Rolls-Royce.
