Additional information

This work describes unique algorithms upon which elastic deformation models in surgical simulators and cloth modelling tools are based. Awarded the prize for the best paper published by the Institute of Measurement and Control in 2011. The most novel aspect of the work lies in the heuristic steps in the algorithms and their simplicity, robustness and stability, as a consequence they are highly practical. This algorithm has allowed us to build a unique simulator for laparoscopic surgery by freeing up time for other features.
