<29> As highlighted in Evaluation report commissioned by ESRC following WISERD Phase 1, the approach taken in this paper demonstrates “novel applications of advanced GIS methods to review spatial and time-series contrasts in assessing selected public services” and has been recognised as a particularly successful element of the overall methodological contribution of WISERD. Its findings have important policy implications, revealing national accessibility guidelines used to reconfigure post office provision were not met in Wales. Elements of this research have formed the basis of an extended work programme (WISERD/Civil Society) submitted to (invite-only) ESRC Centres and Large Grants initiative, September 2013.
