Additional information

This electronic resource, designed to support the research infrastructure, is a large-scale, annotated, selective Bibliography. As Editor-in-Chief, Professor John proposed the module, designed the taxonomy, appointed and co-ordinated a Board of twenty internationally acclaimed scholars as well as numerous contributors, commissioned entries, and reviewed all entries and reports. For the 2011 on-line launch, she oversaw the successful delivery of more than 50 entries, or 400,000 words, the equivalent of a 4-volume print bibliography. 93 of these are currently online and more than 100 further entries are in process. Professor John wrote the ‘Melodrama’ entry (8,000 words) and the ‘Dickens’ entry (40,000 words). Evidence of the dates of first on-line appearance have been provided by the following message (an email to the Department's REF Lead, Finn Fordham) from the editor at Oxford University Press, Alexis Richard: "Oxford Bibliographies in Victorian Literature first published on 3/2/2011 with 50 articles, including “Melodrama.” Dr. John’s article “Charles Dickens” published 12/15/2011. As a related note, the dates of publication/last update and DOI are listed at the bottom of each article’s page, and should be viewable by the public." More formal evidence of dating can be provided, if required, from OUP's editor.
