Additional information

This paper documented the technical design and development of an artificial neural network (ANN) in the development of the gesture library for ‘Articulate’. This was a product designed for children with severe difficulties in communicating verbally and do not have the acute motor abilities required for hand gestures found in British Sign Language (BSL). During product development, two methods were used in the electronic prototyping stage. One made use of the Arduino microcontroller board. The other used a Nintendo Wii® Mote and LabVIEW® programming software. This journal is a quarterly publication and has an international editorial board whose members referee submissions.
