Additional information

An output from EU Framework funded Environmental Lifecycle Information Management and Acquisition (ELIMA) collaborative research project (GRD2-2000-30097). Prototype product service systems were piloted in multi-country field trials (Indesit/Hotpoint refrigeration products and SONY PlayStation consoles), designed and implemented with the framework and tools described. Partners also included Motorola, Cybernetix, SAT and Sheffield Hallam. The research results on smart appliances have led to further collaborative research project with Indesit UK (“Holistic Framework & Tools for Sustainable Energy Efficiency in Networked Home Appliances”, funded by DTI/EPSRC, Grant DTI–K526L, EPSRC-DT/E010733/1, contact: Senior Design Engineer at Indesit).
