Oil-soluble drugs are difficult for body to absorb. Paper reports new method of producing silica-based porous nanoparticles for containing poorly-soluble drugs, using colloidal technique that avoids high processing temperatures that may damage drugs. Spin-out company, Ceridia, was set up by co-author Prestidge (University of South Australia) based in part on this work. Clinical trials are ongoing.
