This output was based on collaboration with IDS Limited and supported by the Rochester Bridge Trust. This paper presents the essence of the applications of GPR on two bridges in the UK (Forth Road Bridge – Scotland and Pentagon Road Bridge – Kent). State-of-the-art GPR technology and advanced data processing and presentation techniques were employed in identification of structural defects of the bridges.  The paper also reports on the adopted method for an effective GPR survey with emphasis on difficulties and challenges encountered during the actual monitoring and assessment of the bridges. Results then were used in FE modelling of the bridges.
