Identification of different subsets of lung cells using Raman microspectroscopy and whole cell nucleus isolation.
In this work, isolating whole lung cells’ nuclei proved the main Raman spectral differences reside in the nucleus. This led towards the purchase of a Raman instrument to further this research. Our work on vibrational spectroscopy (publicised in “Research at Diamond Synchrotron”, BBC 10 o’clock News, 11th June, 2010) has led to 12 successful applications to the Diamond Light Source (Oxfordshire). Also, Dr Sulé-Suso has been Chairman of the Working Group for the Infrared Beamline at Diamond synchrotron (2007-2013), and Member of the Diamond User Committee since 2012. He gave an invited lecture at Spec2012 (Thailand) on vibrational spectroscopy.
