A collaborative EU FP7 IRSES “HYANJI SCAFFOLD” network project between Keele, Tsinghua University, and Sichuan University designed a novel collagen/polymer composite for tissue engineering applications. The work was performed at both Keele and Tsinghua sites with support from EPSRC CTD (EP/F/500491/1)support. This demonstrator work established proof of principle and led to subsequent publications (Webb et al 2013), conference presentation (TERMIS World Congress, 2011), and Guest Professor appointment (NR Forsyth, Sichuan University). A component of this work was included in the successfully defended PhD thesis of AJ Lomas.
