Another Steven Soderbergh Experience: Authorship and Contemporary Hollywood (approximately 120,000 words) uses the ongoing career of a contemporary US filmmaker as a lens through which to re-theorise screen authorship. The book offers an original model that acknowledges the fundamentally collaborative nature of authorial work and its circulation. The book positions Soderbergh and authorship in terms of collaborative production, location filming, deal-making and distribution, genre and adaptation work, critical reception, and other industrial and cultural phenomena. It draws on primary materials collected over more than ten years, including industry data, trade-press coverage, and a new, 14,000-word interview with the filmmaker.
