Growth of Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles Monitored by Time-Resolved Small-Angle Neutron Scattering
TR-SANS was used to selectively visualize the growth of mesoporous silica nanoparticles for controlled release applications, providing a substantially more detailed understanding of the mechanism than previously available. STFC funding was attracted in terms of facility access (3 days) at both ISIS and ILL and the work was highlighted on the front cover of Langmuir and presented at the Materials Research Society meeting in April 2012. It generated significant interest, achieving prominent mentions in major review articles in “Chemical Society Reviews” and “Chemical Reviews” and has since led to an invited single-author article in Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (DOI: 10.1039/C3CP50293G).
