Nonvolatile liquid anthracenes for facile full-colour luminescence tuning at single blue-light excitation.

This important work reports liquid anthracene-based composites with tuneable emission colours across the visible spectrum for use as high quantum yield fluorescent paints. This open access article, was highlighted as a cover image by Nature Communications (13/06/2013) and has attracted significant online media interest (e.g. Phys.org, ScienceDaily, EETAsia, DailyFusion). There has been considerable industrial interest in the project, with one industrially-sponsored technician already in place. The work was funded by a Kakenhi grant (23685033) and has since led to applications for follow-on-funding from the EU.
