<23> SIAM Journal on Imaging Science is a top quality journal. Only highest quality papers are accepted (in 2010/2011, only 44/45, papers were published). The impact factors of 4.5 (in 2010) and 4.656 (in 2011) put it in the first place in several ISI subject category lists. Our paper introduces a family of ellipticity measures. This is the first family of, mutually independent, shape measures with a clear geometric interpretation. The family is employed in a classification of galaxies from the well-known NGC catalogue. The results were excellent and a 100% classification rate is obtained (the previous best was 95.1).
