Additional information

<13> This paper was presented at CEC, one of the two premier evolutionary computing conferences, continues work on the optimisation of safety-related systems which has led to an EPSRC grant, a KTP and papers in ECAI and IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation. It presents a novel algorithm to optimise short term conflict alert systems (used by NATS in the UK and other air traffic control agencies worldwide). Incorporated in this multi-objective algorithm, amongst other advances, is a method to safely explore unknown parameter ranges, resulting in better convergence. Results from this are now embedded into NATS optimisation software.
