Additional information

This paper reports on the mechanical behaviour of an industrial sized synthetic fibre concrete ground supported slab (6.0x6.0x0.15m). The reported work aimed to contribute towards the design code TR34 which is currently under review. The research demonstrated a significant difference in deformation and crack propagation patterns of a large scale slab compared to traditionally tested slabs (3.0x3.0m and 1.5x1.5m). A significant difference also was found between the test results and theoretical values derived using available design codes. Results demonstrate remarkable strength values comparable to the steel fibre concrete which questions the commonly perceived lower values within the discipline.
