<07> This paper introduced the notion of dynamic data-flow to the world of "big data". In essence, it explained how to perform data-dependent control flow (including iteration and recursion) within a big data computation while retaining the key properties of determinism, fault-tolerance and transparent distribution. The first author won the 2012 "Needham Award", given to the best systems PhD dissertation in Europe.
