The software tool developed in this research has been made publicly accessible through Mathworks File Exchange and gained a 5* rating from users (see http://www.mathworks.co.uk/matlabcentral/fileexchange/25870). It led to a patented innovation (GB2468973 - granted in 2011) for Inferential Slug Control (ISC). The technique was adopted by Dong Energy in a real field trial of the ISC conducted in a North Sea oil field. The trial successfully demonstrated that the ISC increased oil production by 9.6% (Martin Olldag Bay MAOBA@dongenergy.dk). The ISC solution was awarded the East England Energy Group (EEEgr) Innovation Award in 2010.
