Double-weighted statement

This work is the culmination of ten years research based on the collection of a considerable body of complex linguistic material. This vast amount of data needed to be phonetically transcribed, grammatically ordered and analysed according to dynamic principles of variation and change. The data used in the work was collected at source from a very large and diverse group of Welsh informants; this entailed extensive fieldwork and protracted periods of reinvestigation, the aim being to produce the best possible description of Welsh as actually spoken.
